No. Compression runs inside your browser as WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to a server, and the page has no upload endpoint. You can load the page, go offline, and it still works.

If re-encoding a file would not make it smaller, CrushMachine keeps your original rather than handing you a worse copy. That usually means the file was already well compressed. A lower quality or a different output format will shrink it further.
It depends on the source. Photos saved at high quality usually shrink by half or more with the Balanced preset. Screenshots and graphics saved as PNG often shrink by 20 to 60 percent. Every row shows the exact size before and after, so you can judge each file.
There is no fixed limit. Files are processed a few at a time, so the practical limit is your device memory. Hundreds of ordinary photos are fine on a modern laptop or phone.
